About the Authors

Randy Softbottom and Dick Dinkelstein have been collaborative, creative partners for nearly 20 years. They have recorded three albums together and are the founding members of the hyperdimensional superband MonkeyKron. The Dirty Dad Joke Book is their first literary work.

Randy Softbottom grew up in the Pine Barrens, over the Delaware River from Philadelphia. He has had a lifelong love for humorisms and making others laugh. Mr. Softbottom participated in the Humanities Honors Program at William Paterson University, outside of New York City, before graduating from The Richard Stockton University with a degree in Literature. He then moved to Northern California to pursue a career in public service. It is there that he completed his postgraduate work in Education at Cal State Fresno. Mr. Softbottom enjoys surfing, playing jazz music on his upright bass, and wearing a golden unitard under a foam, stormtrooper-esque robot suit.

Dick Dinkelstein was born and raised in Oakland, California. Raised by a humorous Jewish family, he attributes his joke-a-graphic memory to his mother. Dinkelberg graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Women’s Studies from the University of Oregon. It was in Eugene where he became a new-age hippie and started his lifelong career as a musician. After touring in his 20s with a reggae kirtan band, he created a Jewish hip-hop prayer service called HipHopShabbat and brought the experience to Jewish communities nationwide. Dick enjoys hiking, skiing, learning languages, and going to music festivals.
